Message from Dr Foo Yong Kong
President
Malaysian Contemporary Chinese Painting & Calligraphy Association
Chinese painting and calligraphy plays a large part in making our
lives infinitely rich. It stimulates our innermost emotions and allows us an avenue to express our creativity and passion. Chinese art is also an integral aspect, and an indicator, of the cultural advancement of the community. And the 2007 First China and Malaysia International Ornamental Stone and Painting and Calligraphy Art Invitation Exhibition is a unique tribute to the mutual appreciation of art in these two countries.
On behalf of the Malaysian Contemporary Chinese Painting & Calligraphy Association, I would like to extend my gratitude to the Guangxi Research & Exchange Centre for the Eastern Stone Culture, Guangxi Arts Collector Association and the Guangxi View Stone Association for kindly extending us an invitation to attend the exhibition.
This is the first time we have been given the opportunity to exhibit
our works in Guangxi and I believe this is indeed a great honour for
us. Chinese painting and calligraphy had their roots in Malaysia more
than two centuries ago and over the years they have garnered a very
respectable following. Practitioners of these traditional art forms
have made many visits to various provinces in China to learn and share
experiences with other enthusiasts.
Although we have had a long history of being involved in Chinese
painting and calligraphy, we still have a lot to learn in these
fields. We are grateful that this exhibition will provide us an
opportunity to meet up with top masters in their craft and share their
expertise.
Once again, I extend my sincere appreciation to the organising team
and wish them all success.
